Aberdeenshire’s most unique sites will open their doors this weekend as part of a free heritage trail.

Craigston Castle will be open Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September with guided tours.

The Queen’s room - this room was renamed in honour of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother who visited the Community Centre in Craigston Castle in September 1948. It's now are TV and game room.

On arrival at the castle Her Majesty was presented with a posy of Rambler Roses by Master Alexander Urquhart.

Four years later a fire which started here burnt everything in it, an Aubusson carpet, 3 Raeburn’s, Louis XV furniture and a 16th century painted ceiling. Today is our Tv/game room and can be yours even if we hope you'll enjoy the beautiful surrounding area
