Accommodation
We let the castle to families and small groups, up to 12 people for 12 to 13 weeks per year, between May and October. Due to this limited availability we recommend you reserve your preferred dates in plenty of time.
As guests in the Urquhart family home, you will have your choice of room, each beautifully decorated with period furniture including original four-poster beds.
You will have the castle and grounds to yourselves, though we are on hand should you need anything (see catering & services below). The castle sleeps 12 and each of the six bedrooms has its own bathroom. A cot is available upon request.
Photographs and details of the rooms are available below – Fraser Room, Kings Room, Blue Room, The Old Nursery, White Room and Holly Room. See also Reception Rooms, Kitchen and Bathrooms.
A short walk through the woods brings you to the Craigston North Lodge, also available for self-catering stays, see North Lodge for more. The total numbers of guests (castle plus lodge) can’t be more than 14, to ensure a comfortable experience for all.
Book with confidence:
In the evening you can sit in the drawing room and enjoy a good whisky from one of the many local distilleries.
The castle has a fully equipped traditional kitchen, with modern appliances for self catering. Meals can be eaten in the kitchen in the Morning room and in the Colonial Room.
Your hosts can help you choose from the best local produce; lamb and Highland beef; fish from nearby Macduff; and seasonal vegetables.
Complimentary wifi is provided.
We hired Craigston Castle for a long weekend with a group of seven ladies and had an absolutely wonderful time from start to finish. Everything was just perfect. From Betta’s warm and attentive hospitality, to the incredible rooms and very comfortable bathrooms, to the fully equipped kitchen, to the endless activities that we spent our days exploring. We tasted whiskies, visited a great nearby distillery, lounged about in front of the fire and had lots of delicious dinners. I couldn’t recommend Craigston more, we’re already planning to go back again soon! I love Craigston Castle! A unique place, very fascinating and with a warm atmosphere. Beautiful furniture design, very gentle welcome, friendly family management that makes you feel at home. The castle is within a wonderful territory, wild and with a lot of nice animals: deer, sheep and cows. The surroundings are very nice, with many villages by the sea and other castles to visit. I suggest you make your next relaxing vacation there!
